Q: How did they survive plagues and viruses pre-vaccine? A: Adaptogens

He did unusual things like washing his hands often.

He treated people with tinctures of his own, which in the fortunate rallied the immune system to fight the infection. The timing was everything.  Legends say Nostradamus's wife and child died because he was not there to treat them.

Not Vitamins

CON It takes several months to build a good immune system so doubling up on vitamins without exercise/sleep/muscle recovery...Vitamins will not give you an immune system edge until your body is forced to use them. You store what you eat so unless a body part is stressed enough (exercise or injury)  Vitamins are not going to stream to it.

PRO: Starting healthy habits now that you are home and have nothing else to do other than getting fitter is a good idea.

In Modern times, one thing we know is that spices do not kill bacterial but they do boost your own immune system to attack infections. Even When a Vaccine Becomes Available Your Immune System Must RALLY In Order For The Vaccine To Work. How your immune system rallies depend on the level of germ/virus that your immune system detects.  And most importantly how much time has been spent boosting the system. The Chinese Medical Tradition differs from the Western so much that the two different approaches are often considered oppositional.  The Eastern or osteopathic and the Western or allopathic approaches are not diametrically opposed. Bad habits make it more difficult for you to have a virus-fighting immune system
